About This Report
Area561 is a hyper-local surf decision engine built specifically for Palm Beach County.
This report is not a generic forecast. It is custom-built for our coastline, our sandbars, and the way surf actually behaves here.
What Makes This Different
Most surf forecasts use offshore data and stop there.
Area561 goes further.
We collect, parse, and organize raw marine, weather, and coastal data — then interpret it locally, with Palm Beach County in mind. Every update is time-stamped, archived, and evaluated against what actually reaches the beach.
This allows us to answer the only question that matters: “Is the surf actually behaving like the reports say they are right now?”
Built for Palm Beach County
Palm Beach County is unique.
- Swell often shows on buoys but never reaches shore
- Strong offshore winds can keep swell from hitting the beach
- Refraction swells can light up one zone while nearby breaks stay flat
Area561 is designed to account for these realities instead of ignoring them.
How This Report Learns Over Time
Area561 does not treat each forecast as a one-off.
Conditions are logged daily and compared against what actually reaches the beach. Over time, this creates a local record of which combinations of swell, wind, and tide tend to work here — and which do not.
Each day, raw conditions are logged into a daily record:
- Swell size, direction, and period
- Wind speed and direction
- Nearshore vs offshore energy
- Tide state and timing
Over time, this helps:
- Recognize recurring local patterns
- Reduce false positives when surf never arrives
- Improve confidence when similar conditions return
The goal is not prediction hype. It is fewer bad calls and more honest ones.
What This Report Is (and Isn’t)
This report is:
- A local decision tool
- Built for short-range, real-world conditions
- Designed to be checked often, not trusted blindly
This report is not:
- A long-range forecast
- A guarantee of wave quality
- A replacement for looking at the ocean
Surf changes fast. This system is designed to keep up, not pretend it can see days into the future.
How to Use It
